WHERE GREAT MEZZOS MEET | RECITAL WITH DAME SARAH CONNOLLY AND JULIUS DRAKE
One of the UK’s most distinguished mezzo-sopranos, Dame Sarah Connolly, takes the stage with a star of the next generation, Beth Taylor. Sarah was made a DBE in the 2017 Birthday Honours and has sung in most of the world’s leading opera houses and concert halls. Notable among her stellar career was her appearance as guest soloist at the BBC Last Night of the Proms in 2009.
Beth recently came to prominence in the grand final of the 2023 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, and since that moment has made debuts at Carnegie Hall and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and worked with conductors including Edward Gardner, Sir Simon Rattle and Kirill Petrenko.
No stranger to Temple Music, Julius Drake enjoys an international reputation as one of the finest instrumentalists in his field, collaborating with many of the world’s leading artists, both in recital and on disc. His passionate interest in song has led to invitations to devise song series for Wigmore Hall, London; The Concertgebouw, Amsterdam; 92nd St Y, New York; and the Pierre Boulez Saal, Berlin.
This Concert is sponsored by Rosamund Horwood-Smart KC.
